EU Consumer Commissioner Meglena Kuneva announced the results of an EU wide investigation - involving 15 EU national authorities as well as Norway – against misleading advertising and unfair practices on airline ticket selling websites. The clampdown covers Europe's leading airlines, low cost carriers as well as other websites selling airline tickets. The results of the inquiry show that over 50% of all websites showed irregularities, in particular relating to price indications, contract terms and clarity of proposed conditions.

GDP grew by 0.7% in the euro area (EA13) and by 0.8% in the EU27 during the third quarter of 2007, compared with the previous quarter, according to flash estimates published by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the second quarter of 2007, growth rates were +0.3% in the euro area and +0.5% in the EU27.

The international investment position of the euro area vis-à-vis the rest of the world recorded net liabilities of EUR 1.0 trillion (representing 12% of euro area GDP) at the end of 2006. Compared with the end of 2005, the net liability position increased by EUR 187 billion. This higher net liability position was mainly the result of revaluation effects due to movements in exchange rates (EUR 152 billion) and net financial transactions (EUR 118 billion).

In adopting a first-reading report, MEPs backed the Commission's plan to include the aviation sector in the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS). While the Commission had proposed capping ETS allowances for CO2 emissions at 100 percent of aircraft operators' average annual emissions during 2004-2006, the EP went even further, reducing the number of ETS-authorised emissions for aviation to 90 percent. The House also voted to exclude all military flights from the scope of the directive.

The 12 members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) pumped an average 31.11 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil in October, or a 350,000 b/d increase from September, largely on higher volumes from Saudi Arabia and Iraq, a Platts survey showed November 13.
